I did the last workout of week 2 on the treadmill again. It certainly is a lot easier to use a treadmill while traveling.
I still can’t get use to it until 5 mins or so into the workout. The other downside is when I need to switch from running to walking and vice-versa. I must look as though I’m crazy as I try to adjust the pace by quickly pressing the “+” and “-” buttons. It would certainly be nice if the treadmill were programmable so I could put in the pace and the intervals and have it switch automatically. Or at the versy least, be able to program various paces that I can activate with single button presses. I have to assume such programmable treadmills exists so if I’m ever in the market for a treadmill, I’ll have to look into it.
Since I did my 3rd workout on a Thursday evening, it seems like such a long time to wait until Monday morning for the start of week 3, so I may actually do a 4th week 2 workout on Saturday. That will still give me a 1 day rest between workouts.

Like the first workout of this week, I did the second one in the evening. Being on the road, the evening workout just seems a bit easier than the early morning workouts.
On my way back to the hotel, I decided to check out the fitness center. It was empty and small, but it had a treadmill. I decided to give that a try rather than going out on the road. This was the first time I actually tried jogging on a treadmill and it took some getting used to. For the first 5 mins or so, I had to hold on to the handles as I just couldn’t seem to keep my balance. I think the problem is that I needed to maintain a perfect pace and I guess you just don’t normally jog like that. Eventually I was able to get going where I could have jogged and walked in place without needed the handle bars.
The treadmill was actually nice because of the fact I could measure my pace. When I’m on the road, I’m never sure if I’m going faster or slower than the last interval.
I’ll do my last workout this week on the treadmill and then it’ll be back to the road once I get back home from my business trip.

Week 2 started with a business trip to South FL. I arrived on Sunday afternoon and my plan was to continue running in the mornings on Mon, Wed, and Fri. After hanging around the hotel room twiddling my thumbs, I decided to do my Monday run that Sunday evening.
I got dressed and went out and did the run. As I expected, it was a bit harder since I now have to run 90 seconds. This seems about the most I can actually handle, but at least I “can” handle it.
Today I was reflecting on the changes so far since I did that very first run. Some things I noticed are that my feet no longer hurt while I’m running and I no longer feel sore in the hours or days after a run. It feels good to be able relfect on the changes and know that there is improvement there, even after just 5 days (including my initial pre-start run)

Well, the first week is now complete!! I managed to start my exercise program and stick with for a week!
Today’s run was about the same as day2. I managed to move the exact same distance so at least I know I moved at the same pace.
Next week will be tough. I am actually traveling on business for the week and will have to go out while on the road and living in a hotel. I knew about this trip before I started the program, but I wanted to start any way instead of waiting until after my trip. I figure there will always be things going on in my live that would make it hard to get out there, but if I can overcome such an early distraction and actually go running, I’ll be well on my way to sticking with the program.
I noticed this week that I have been constantly hungry. My diet hasn’t changed so I thinking the exercise is having this effect on me. I’ll have to do some digginginto this.

Well, today was definitely harder than the first day, but still doable. Whay was it harder? Well, I’m a bit of an idiot…..
I was looking over the plan last night to make sure that day 2 was the same as day 1 and lo and behold, what do I see? I see I’m supposed to run for 60 seconds and walk to 90 seconds. On my day 1, I was certain I had to run for 30 seconds and walk for 90 seconds! I only ran for half the time!
I had made the same mistake on my pre-training test run on the Friday before. No wonder those workouts seemed easy
Anyway, I did the proper plan today and it was definitely harder, but I was able to complete it and I felt great afterwards.
My left sock is still slipping into my shoe, but now as much today. Why does this happen on the left side and not the right side? It’s one of those things that make you go “hmmmmm”
I need to go and drive the route in my car so I can see how far I actually “moved”. I know distance isn’t important right now, but I “need” to know.
