C25K: Week 8 Day 3

Plan: Run 2.8 miles
Actual: Run 2.8 miles with a 20 sec walking break

Like the last time, I had to take a short walk.  I’m feeling very good about the ptogram and I’m looking into a 12-week plan as a C25K follow-up plan.  This new plan will get me running up to 6 miles on a weekend for a total of about 15 miles per week.

I’ve started working on a new program to replace the Polar software.  It’s coming along quite nicely and I hope to release it for free at some point.  More details to follow.

C25K: Week 8 Day 1

Plan: Run 2.8 miles
Actual: Run 2.8 miles with a 20 sec walking break

Today was a 2.8 mile run. It was supposed to be 2.75 miles, but my S62X can’t track to 2 decimal places. Like the last run, I took a brief 20 second walking breaking. I probably didn’t need it and I may try to avoid them in the future. The reason being that it’s hard to start back up again.

As the end of the C25K plan is right around the corner, I’m now starting to plan what will come next. It’s exciting thinking about what I want to accomplish.

C25K: Week 7 Day 3

Plan: Run 2.5 miles
Actual: Run 2.5 miles with a 20 sec walking break

As you may notice, I’ve now switched to distance instead of time.  The reason is that I now hav the technology to measure my distance….the S625X running computer.

Today wasn’t bad, but I had to take a short walking break.

C25K: Week 7 Day 2

Plan: Run 25 mins

Actual: Run 25 mins

I finally made a decision and I got the Polar S625X. After a lot of deliberation, I went with the Polar because of it’s better accuracy and consistency. The ability to map my runs with the GPS-based Forerunner was a very minor benefit.

I went running with it for the first time and I got a bit of a shock. I thought I was running at a 10-min/mile pace, but instead, I’m actually at a 12-min/mile pace. At least now I have something I can work with as I improve. I haven’t installed the Polar software as yet as I’m still waiting for the infrared device so that I can transfer data, but I’m looking forward to be able to analyse each of my runs and to actually see the improvement.

C25K: Week 7 Day 1

Plan: Run 25 mins

Actual: Run 25 mins

Today’s run was a little tough.  At around 21 mins into the run, I wasn’t sure I could actually finish the whole 25-mins, but I persevered.

I’ve been dieting along with my exercise and when I weighed this morning (for my weekly weigh-in), it was a bit discouraging.  I’ve been consistently losing 3 lbs/week, but I “only” lost 2 lbs this last week.  Oh well…at least I’m still losing.  I expect it will get tougher to lose weight as time goes one.
